This was our first time at the Fife and Drum, and we really enjoyed it! The staff is super friendly and very helpful. The cost is honestly more than we typically pay, but it was worth every penny given the location. We were in Williamsburg for the Grand Illumination festivities. Because of the location of the Inn, we were able to walk to everything which was great! We would definitely consider staying there again.
Cute place. Prime location as you can walk anywhere. The rooms are nice. You can hear others walking around throughly it the night so hopefully your neighbors aren’t loud. I definitely wouldn’t consider it a bed and breakfast as they just have coffee and snack foods. The blue talon across the street is really good.
Rooms were clean and the common room had snacks and bottled water available as well as hot tea and coffee. The inn is located one block from Market Square and very close to Colonial Williamsburg. We were able to walk to all the shops, restaurants and attractions. Excellent place to stay.
My family had the pleasure of staying at the Fife and Drum Inn this October. We planned a seven-day trip, splitting our time between exploring Colonial Williamsburg and hitting the road for day trips to Yorktown, Jamestown, and other nearby points of interest. The Inn's location was perfect for our itinerary.
Location here is everything. Just a short walk away from Colonial Williamsburg, parking is a non-issue. You're also just a hop, skip, and a jump from the College of William and Mary campus as well as some great restaurants. Just a heads-up: access to the rooms is via one flight of stairs.
The rooms themselves are charming and cozy. They're definitely geared towards singles and couples, and while the ones closest to the dining area might get a bit noisy in the mornings, you're guaranteed a peaceful slumber overall. Each room has a small TV, but we never used ours opting instead to use our iPads. We also spotted plenty of guests working on their laptops, and the Wi-Fi was fine.
The service at the Inn was great. We met three different staff members during our stay, and each encounter was great. We even had a surprise temperature drop that left us trying to figure out the thermostat, but the innkeeper came in and saved the day (or night), making sure our nights were toasty warm.
The outdoor patio is a hidden gem, especially on sunny days. I enjoyed a couple of breakfasts there, and the covered couches were the perfect spot for some afternoon reading. This is one of the Inn's special features.
As for food, they have bottomless brewed coffee in the mornings. You can also grab some granola, yogurt, and even the most amazing homemade muffin tops. While they don't serve lunch or dinner, you're welcome to use the dining area for your takeout. We took advantage of this several nights, enjoying a glass of wine from the Williamsburg Winery.
In a nutshell, I can't recommend the Fife and Drum Inn enough. Its location, charm, and excellent service make it a fantastic choice for anyone seeking a comfortable and enjoyable stay in Williamsburg.
